Introduction to Tea
Tea is one of the oldest and most popular drinks in the United Kingdom and the world, and in fact it has been some 5,000 since tea was created in China, and tea began being imported to the UK in the 1660’s. Yet most people still don’t know the extent to how many different types and varieties of tea are out there.
Out of all the tea drank daily in the UK 96% is brewed from tea bags, and over 90% of tea consumed is black tea, often but not always with a small amount of milk. Tea bags can be of a good quality and have an appealing taste whilst maintaining a reasonable price; the problem is this is often not the case. We only sell high quality tea bags that have been manufactured by our supplier who take great care in every aspect of the production. This ensures a great tasting tea for you to enjoy at any time of the day. The main advantage of tea bags is the convenience; the amount of tea needed is already placed into the bag which in itself becomes the strainer. But if you are going to use tea bags then why not try the different flavours available. There is far more to tea than English breakfast, even if it’s just Earl Grey or Assam, all tea lovers should try something new.
We at the Traditional Tea Company however would like to encourage you to try our selection of loose leaf tea. We know once you have discovered the range of flavours and great choice out there you will be hooked on loose tea forever. I use to be the kind of person who thought tea was simply bought from a supermarket in mass bulk bags and that was it. Now I have discovered loose tea I don’t think I could ever go back. Well that is except for the morning rush; let’s be honest the convenience of tea bags is essential first thing in the morning. That said, once you get into the habit of preparing loose it becomes second nature. We have prepared several easy to follow brewing guides on here so that you will be able to brew the perfect cup of tea.
Loose leaf tea has many benefits over tea bags, if only for the far greater range attainable. The most important benefit to me is being able to choose just how much tea leaves I put in, and not being told by a manufacturer exactly how much I should have in a cup of tea. If you feel like a stronger cup of tea then you can simply put more leaves in. Although we give you a guide to brewing tea on here, it is as it says a ‘guide’, it’s all down to you exactly much tea leaves you want to brew.
