Tea Classification

You may be wondering what those letters mean after certain teas? All teas have different leaf sizes and all are picked differently, and in various climates. Therefore we get the following classifications.

CTC- Cut, Tear, Crush (small round leaf)
BOP - Broken Orange Pekoe (small cut leaf)
OP - Orange Pekoe (large leaves)
FOP - Flowery Orange Pekoe (large leaf with few tips)
GFOP - Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (large leaf with few golden leaves)
TGFOP - Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (large leaf with tips & few golden leaves)
FTGFOP - Fine tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (large leaf with medium golden leaves & tips)
SFTGFOP - Superior Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (lots of golden leaves & tips)
